Position:     Middle / High School Fitness Trainer

 

Position Type:     Part-Time / Seasonal

Position Summary:

 

The fitness trainer is responsible for implementing, modifying, and supervising strength and conditioning programs that enhance athletic performance, injury prevention, and overall fitness for student-athletes. The trainer will work closely with coaches, athletic staff, and school administrators to promote safe and effective training aligned with each athlete’s developmental needs

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and lead fitness and conditioning programs for athletic teams and individual student athletes

  • Instruct students on proper form, technique, and safe use of equipment

  • Modify workouts based on sport, season, and individual ability levels

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of participation and performance

  • Collaborate with coaches and athletic trainers to support team goals and injury recovery plans

  • Enforce safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized training facility

  • Educate students on healthy habits, nutrition basics, and recovery practices

  • Supervise weight room or fitness facility during designated training hours

  • Ensure all activities comply with school policies and athletic regulations

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • CPR/AED and First Aid training

  • Knowledge of adolescent physical development and sports conditioning

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

 

Preferred:

 

  • Bachelor or Associate degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field

  • NSCA-CSCS, NASM-CPT, ACE, or comparable certification

  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification

  • Experience training high school athletes or coaching youth sports

  • Familiarity with sport-specific conditioning and injury prevention strategies

 

Work Schedule:

 

  • 2–3 hours per week during athletic seasons

  • Flexible scheduling required (before/after school hours)

 

Physical Demands:

 

  • Ability to demonstrate exercises and lift equipment up to 50 lbs

  • Prolonged standing, spotting, and moving in an active environment
